New atheist group started 3/9/06. Group for discussions, mind expansion, networking, meeting local southern California atheists and agnostics... Start a new Topic, share your thoughts, insight, experiences, information, knowledge. What prompted your non-beliefs? Do you have any interesting info to share? Info on Darwin? Early religions? Theology? Biblical info, inaccuracies... I encourage you to post Topics, respond, check in every so often. Believers are also welcome here. Because posts may include very differing opinions between believers and non-believers, please keep all responses non-abusive. Some of my Christian friends recently have become very upset seeing my bulletins for this new group, thinking that ads for this group is "spreading hate and ugliness." Some believers have a misconception of what it means to be an atheist. It's not about "spreading hate", it's simply the lack of belief in a higher power, the absence of belief in any "god". I'd actually like to perpetuate the opposite happening here, the spreading of understanding, acceptance, learning, growing, exchanging ideas.
As a side note, I started this group after checking out some of the other atheist/agnostic groups and found myself frustrated by finding an interesting Topic, only to see it bogged down with pointless back and forth remarks that had nothing to do with the original topic, "I want pizza" - really?! who cares?! Please don't post off-subject idle chat here. I don't want to micromanage this site, however I'd like to avoid posts that seem better off in a chat room or personal email.
The site is a group effort, your input and suggestions are appreciated.
Don't let your passion and non-conformist energy die and fade away...! I'd like to see this group expand, a forum for free thinking, remain positive, openminded, informative, encouraging, enlightening, fun, interesting, ideas shared, supportive thought shared.
