The Alcove first opened in the mid 80s after a period of boredom in the Detroit club scene. It was modeled after LA/NY/UK clubs, featuring a dark, bleak interior with original art and very non pop music. Industrial, Gothic, Punk and Ska music were the main course.

The Alcove traveled all around metro-Detroit, Starting in Royal Oak at bar called Jamesons, across from what is now Luna, then to various locations downtown Detroit. Some of the more popular spots were in Trixx (formerly Bookies), Todds, Finney's Pub, the Shelter, Motor and others.

We are looking for more photos and flyers.

Planning will begin this spring for a 20 Years Past Event, watch for more details.
