Wayne Smith has enjoyed an exciting career in the field of Female Impersonation. Working for the world famous, La Cage Aux Folles, where he starred as Marilyn Monroe, Dolly Parton, Lucille Ball, and Cher. Wayne has toured extensively around the world in such places as Miami, Los Angeles, Mexico, Aruba, and Vienna. Including a tour of the East coast performing at 11 theaters in 14 days. Polaroid sponsored a Marilyn Monroe look-a-like contest in Los Angeles at which Wayne was chosen as one of six finalists from across the United States. At the Majestic Theater in Dallas, Wayne produced and directed his own review The Great Pretenders featuring himself and six other top impersonators from around the country. His entertaining talents have not been limited to live performances. Wayne has been seen on numerous network television programs, including Blossom, WKRP in Cincinnati, Geraldo and The Leeza Show. Wayne was also seen as Cher on Carol Burnett and Friends as well as Sally Jesse Raphael. Wayne was also chosen to do the promo party for Believe in October of 1998 in Los Angeles, debuting the albums hit single for the American masses. In 2000, Wayne performed at Chercago, the Cher convention in Chicago, where he sang live and performed to great reviews from the Associated Press. Singing and talking as Cher is one of his many facets which he brings Cher to life. In 2002, Wayne starred in Bill Lloyds Masqueradein Atlantic City, a celebrity look-a-like review, where he sang live as Marilyn Monroe, and Cher. The reviews were outstanding, where Wayne was always singled out as the best Cher impersonator ever. Also in 2002, Wayne contributed to the Cher Convention in Las Vegas at the Riviera Hotel and Casino. In 2003 Wayne was asked to be a part of the A&E Biography special on Cher. Wayne was also the only female impersonator to be included in the book The Cher Scrapbook, where the Associated Press stated that Wayne was second only to Cher. Aside from impersonating famous celebrities, Wayne has written a childrens book, entitled, Starbabies, the Untold Story of Falling Stars, which along with 7 plush characters was sold exclusively at Neiman Marcus through the year 2001.
