The mission of South Carolina Equality Coalition is to work for civil and human rights for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered South Carolinians.

The South Carolina Equality Coalition:

Supports strong families and the institution of marriage.

Wants to preserve our historic State Constitution.

Believes that our State government should strengthen families, denying none basic legal protections.

Believes that all children deserve legal protections for their families.

Believes that South Carolinians want to support and protect all our children, including those being raised by single parents, grandparents, adoptive parents, or gay and lesbian parents.

Believes that legal protection is a civil, rather than religious, issue.
Individual churches should decide who will marry in their church.

Works to open hearts and improve minds through education, respectful action, cooperation, and increasing participation in our communities and public policy.

Builds broad coalitions between organizations working for civil and human rights and those working on behalf of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender South Carolinians.
