THIS space is for the radical dreamers, the peace keepers, artisans and laborers, and most importantly, the Architects and Designers who know that we must reconstruct our presence in the world for it to function properly. Join us in the push forward! Show your support if you love your country, if you love the earth and you believe that the greater harmony, when all is said and done, rests in your Home, that your home, in concert with those of others, can create a paradise, Here and Now.
The restructuring of society in the new millenium will herald the construction of cities that adhere to the demands of the environment and of the people who live there. Beauty and purpose will converge to create Landmasses that move us, will guide us through our relationship with the Earth. There is NO doubt, that through intelligent design and a mind focused on the future, we will be able to support billions of more souls through their journeys on the planet, in full health and prosperity.
This plan disregards political agenda and religious doctrine; it has no purpose other than the perfected integration of Man and Nature.
A bit of History:
At the start of the 20th century, the most influential man in the world of architecture was Frank Lloyd Wright, known for his controversial work, brilliance and innovation. Beyond his own area of expertise, he had a certain fondness for the automobile, and he, like his contemporaries, subscribed to a vision of the free, open road, where ones home-on-the-prairie was connected to the rest of the world by these fabulous and liberating machines.
An alternative perspective was offered by Paolo Soleri, of a later generation than Wright (alive and well today, in fact). The design you see above is his work; a complex, efficient, singular structure that provides not only a home and employment, but a spiritual focus point to those who live there.
In this place, no roads exist, for there are none needed. The sky is the clear of the haze and pollution that so many today believe we must live with. The only sounds come from us, the people; the sound of life unfolding. And there are many designs like this one, conceptualized by many architects, which apply to a multitude of environments, spanning the entire globe. The face of the earth can be remade according to the highest spiritual philosophy, the highest standards of beauty, and the most respectful treatment of the land itself, whose nourishment without which we will simply perish.
What it takes is first for enough of us to want it, and then it will take enough of us to build it, with our own hands.
We know that the view of the open road has grown hazy, has it not? Something Wright was not able to forsee was the sheer number of the cars, the people, the roads like clogged arteries, the pollution, the stress, the isolation, and the literal loss of life that we experience as we drift in the river of red lights. The massive, sprawling cities such as Los Angeles, Chicago, and even New York, are composed of hackneyed towers of steel that have been thus far used to bring people together, but without a true purpose, or a real direction.
So the question now is, what can we do to reverse the damage that has been done? In what manner will these cities be built? Who will fund their construction? This is a multidimensional challenge that all can participate in! This forum is open to all ideas, all bursts of insight, all willing hands who will forge the greatest century the world has ever witnessed.
A bit of personal philosophy:
Once, all were warriors, and man found ways to shield himself from the forces of nature. Later, those who were the protected blossomed with knowledge, and the protectors were given more subtle ways to master their environment. And one day, the protected joyously exclaimed that their need of the protectors was gone. Thank you, they said, Your work here is done. Live with us now in peace, and enjoy the fruits of our combined labors.
