This is a group for calm, intelligent, and preferrably informed discussion. By that I mean:
- No flames
- In fact, no personal attacks of any kind.
- No one is right or wrong, we are discussing opinions here. Make no such assumptions as absolutes.
As many political subjects are especially touchy to some people, always be prepared to back your statements with reliable sources.
Also, rules of logical debate should be followed. That is to say, (such as before with the ad hominem reference), you should strive to make your argument free of as many logical fallacies as possible. If you leave giant logical holes, someone will drive a truck through them. Also, if you notice someone you agree with making logical errors, feel free to correct them as this will only strengthen the argument for both of you. And if someone corrects you as such, don't take it personally, we are all agreeing to disagree for our mutual benefit.
Nothing is presumed to be incorrect here, including beliefs that one person is "superior" to another for any reason. However, raw emotions (such as hate) are not justification; name-calling and other such pettiness will not be tolerated. This is an extension of the "no personal attacks" rule: personal includes groups of persons. Any statement that proposes one group or person is superior in any way must provide hard proof and sources lest it be considered purely inflammatory and run the risk of being removed.
As stated before, no opinion is considered right or wrong here. This group is intended to be there for the process less than the result. No one has gotten everything exactly right in the world yet, because we all still have problems (though some more than others). If you want to discuss what your ideas are, you are more than welcome. The more distinct ideas we have, the more likely that one will work.
Though this group was founded by a liberal Democrat and his (mostly) liberal friends, those on the right-wing and everyone else in the political spectrum is requested to join up and give us a run for our ideological money. If we wanted a left-wing "go us" party, we'd probably have made some cheap was-funny-the-first-thousand-times crack about the President of the USA by now.
Finally: talk is cheap. If you truly believe what you speak here, then don't just try and convince strangers to agree with you on the internet. If you truly feel what you have to say needs to be heard, get out in the world and speak it. Ideas are just ideas until someone breathes life into them with passion.
Good luck!
