This group is dedicated to all the victims of violent crimes, their friends and family.

FIRST OF ALL, LET ME START OUT BY SAYING THAT JUST BECAUSE SOMEONE DOES NOT LOOK LIKE THEY ARE A VICTIM DOES'NT MEAN THEY ARE NOT. PEOPLE LOOK AT ME AND DONT SEE "VICTIM" WRITEN ACROSS MY FACE, SO THEY ASSUME NOTHING IS WRONG WITH ME. SECONDLY, WHAT DOES A VICTIM LOOK LIKE? DON'T BE FOOLISH ENOUGH TO ASSUME THAT JUST BECAUSE A PERSON LOOKS TOGETHER THAT THERE CAN'T BE ANYTHING WRONG UNDER THE SURFACE. AND THATS NOT JUST FOR VICTIMS, THATS IN LIFE PERIOD.

And Remember: Being a "VITCIM" is a state of mind...You are what you chose to be. Don't let anyone break your spirit and change who you are, be EMPOWERED. Live and love, be as happy as you can...Because most of us already know that tomorrow isn't promised.

Who am I?

Hello...My name is Kortney, I am 24 years old and I have a bachelors degree in psychology from Cal State Northridge.

My Story:

A few years ago while getting out of a car in front of my mothers house I was shot in the head in a drive by shooting. The bullet went in my right eye and exited out the left side of my head, tearing the top half of my ear off in the process. Because of these actions I am left with many mental and physical ailments. I wanted to start this group to, not only help myself, but to also help others who have been victims of violent crimes. The best thing you can do for yourself is to surround yourself with people who understand you and what you have been through. I hope that we will all be able to heal by looking to our futures and not our past. God Bless.
