Puro Azteca Boxing Gym was founded by head coach/pro fighter Robert "El Jefe" Flores in the summer of 2000. With a lot of hard work and dedication, he is one of the main reasons the gym has gotten as popular as it is today!
Robert Flores also know as Bobby was born and raised in Houston, Texas. At the young age of 14, he began boxing in Mexico and also boxed at Rays Boxing Gym on the North Side of Houston. He went on to Mr. Walt Haileys former Clear Lake Boxing Team. Mr. Hailey helped him understand the sport of boxing. Turning 20yrs, Flores started training with Cliff Jacobs and then ultimately moved on to Mr. Jose Vasquez. At 23yrs, boxing none stop for almost a decade he decide to hang up the gloves. After a few years away from the ring Flores hunger for boxing was back, so at 26yrs, a good friend of Flores, Bobby Benton, who is like a brother to him, started training him and turned him pro and today he still remains.
Robert Flores would like to thank all the coaches mentioned above and others he may have missed for all their time that they spent with him through out the years. He will always carry those memorable/training experiences with them and pass them on to others.
