Gamma Chapter of Sigma Omicron Pi was established on June 6, 1992 at San Jose State University by eight dedicated Asian American women. The founding sisters are Stella Mark, Trang Nguyen, Ana Santarina, Maxine Tse, Marlena Wan, Lora Wong, Robyn Wu, and Nicole Young.

We were the first Asian American sorority on our campus. Since then, our chapter has grown in active members to over 100 women and our reputation has developed to become one of the most respectable organizations on campus. We continue to withhold the strong traditions of our sorority, bounded by our objectives: UNITY, FRIENDSHIP, LEADERSHIP, AND SERVICE.
