Its been a long hot day and all you really feel like doing is having a good drink and talking to likeminded folk. You flag down a taxi and hop in. The driver gives you a cheeky grin. "Where to guv'ner?" You tell him you want to go somewhere where the drinks flow all night along with the conversations. Where folk can share ideas, talk about books or just put the world to rights. He gives you a wink and speeds off. After a few minutes he pulls into the kerb outside a modest looking establishment. You jump out, pay the driver (leaving a generous tip of course) and open the wooden doors. You find yourself in a whole new world - you find yourself at Scribbler's Speakeasy. The hostess smiles and offers you a drink. Welcome!
You gaze around the room. The lighting is atmospheric yet cosy. Comfy leather sofas line the walls, even the barstools look incredibly welcoming. The bar is well stocked with alcohol and soft drinks of all varieties and over on the other side of the room is a serving hatch. Through the hatch you glimpse a plump cook busily baking a feast of culinery delights. Down one side of the room the wall is lined with bookshelves stocked full to overflowing with books of all genres. People are relaxed, sat on sofas or at tables or stood by the bookshelves. There is a quiet buzz which compliment the perfectly volumed (I know this is not a real word!!) music. What to do first is up to you!
