Unopposed is a 3-piece punkrock band from northern NJ.
The extented band bio...
The band was, originally, formed in 1998, (they originally called themselves, Too Fold and then later became The Kids Today for a year until settling with the name, Unopposed), with Anthony Di Masi (bass, vocals), Ryan Huddy(drums) & Steve Rufo(guitar, backing vocals). The band played out in the middle of that year. For the next few years after, Unopposed played out anywhere they could and recorded as much as possible. They worked with '40 Days Records', 'Jerzy Records', & 'Better Than Your Records'. Got played in rotation on a bunch of exposure through college radio (WSOU, WNTI, WFMU) and even had their song, 'Here's To You', played on Z100, MAX 106.3(both clear channel).
Eventually they started looking for a second guitarist. After a couple musicians that didn't record with the band, however ended up playing for a time("Doogan" & "Sweeny"), they asked their friend, Jay Andre, to play. He gladfully accepted and from then on, in 2002, the band became a 4-piece. From that point, Unopposed was constantly playing out Jersey with their raw blend of oldschool punkrock & a new school catchy sound with just a hint of metal.
In 2003, Ryan left the band and a new drummer, Mike Scerbo, took his spot. The band had created a buzz that caught the attention of a Nitro Records executive, so they flew out to California to play live for them.
They liked what they heard, however, apon returning home, Scerbo quit the band and Unopposed had a major falling out do to inreconciable differences doue to personal issues, leaving Anthony to quit the band.
With Anthony gone, Steve & Jay decided to try to pull things together. So, Steve took up the initiative to keep Unopposed going. So, now with Steve on lead vocals, Jay, and, newcommers, Cliff Aufierro & Joe Velacamp on drums & bass.... They continued to play and, evetually, changed the name to 'X's For Eyes' and became a completely seperate band from Unopposed.
Six monthes after, in 2004, after 'X's For Eyes' broke up. The original line-up of Unopposed (Anthony, Steve, Ryan & Jay), decided to give it another go and recorded and played alittle with the resumed line-up, but all the members, aside from Anthony, lost interest and persuited solo endeavors. Anthony wanted to keep it going...
In, mid-2004, Anthony asked Bill Herman to join up on guitar. Bill and Anthony searched tried out many drummers. On and off through the course of '05, they even brought back old Unopposed drummers, Scerbo and old 'X's For Eyes' drummer, Cliff. They were having less and less luck finding a permenant steady drummer. Unopposed played shows through late 2004 & 2005 with various drummers.
Then, in late 2005, Anthony met & asked Mike Nieman to play drums. Mike being completely dedicated, hardworking & local, quickly became the perminant drummer they were looking for. Since the new reformation of the band and with Anthony as the last original member, Bill & Mike, Unopposed has been playing bunch of shows and recording new songs - such as 'Scene Suicide' & 'Feed the Rich (to the poor)'.
