When drunk last night, or possibly in the slightly more distant past to all you future-people, my accomplice Matt and I decided to set up a new Norwichy group, in which any discussion of Norwich is more or less outlawed. Seems like rather a lame idea now I think about it, sober and nauseous, but what the hey! I'm bored, it's a Sunday; it's either this or sitting around eating quiche and watching old episodes of Buffy in a state of jaded arousal.
The thinking behind the group is as follows - there are many groups on myspace in which you can discuss all sorts of interesting things: history, science, religion, music, favourite TV shows, deviant sexual practices, and of course the ever popular Nazis. Often in the course of these discussions you chance upon a like-minded fellow and think to yourself "I wouldn't mind standing this chap a pint", but you can't because he lives in Wichita, or Gdansk, or Tuvalu.
There are also several groups dedicated to Norwich on which people discuss the fate of the Waterfront, good real ale pubs and the way the Forum crowds St Peter Mancroft, which is all stupidly boring. You can never tell if the people you're talking to are groovy fuckers or complete arses because no one ever gets to betray any personality.
So, this is a group for Norwich people in which we frown upon Norwich related discussion. I may go so far as to delete any thread that I deem too Norwichy in content (this is my first taste of power and I love it). Talk about God, bondage and the Opus Dei (in the same thread if at all possible). Just don't talk about Norwich.
This is a shit idea, I know. I'm not even that desperate for friends.
The image is a of a Norwich Terrier, by the way. If you find any pictures that better capture the elusive quintessence of this group, please let me know.
