How does one do justice to ‘The Hoff’? Merely referring to him as an actor and singer seems somewhat churlish, an insult even to the man, the mythology, the very essence of ‘Hoffness’. His early days were spent in preparation for greatness, laying down cultural markers as Michael Knight in Knightrider and Mitch Buchannon in Baywatch. These iconic roles may have propelled him into the public eye, but they in no way held him back through type-casting. If anything they gave him the forum to propel himself to the next level, the pinnacle of any artists true ambition; a successful pop career in Austria, Switzerland and Germany. His album, “Looking for Freedom” was the reason the Berlin Wall came down. Honest.

With a vast fortune behind him, ‘The Hoff’ has confined himself to cameos and stage appearances of late. In 2006, David Hasselhoff: The Musical will open in Australia before moving to the United States. Britain waits with baited breath. Rumors of recent relapses into alcoholism merely add to the mystique that surrounds this true global treasure.
Some people stand in the darkness, afraid to step into the light. Some people need to help somebody, when the edge of surrender’s in sight. ‘The Hoff’ belongs with the latter.
