This is a group for the true patriots....those who speak truth to power. We have seen the government spying on peace groups, environmental groups, human rights groups....

But, what becomes of us, if the government we speak out against decides to persecute anyone of us for speaking against their lies, human rights abuses, and thievery...

The Pact is a pledge. It is a pledge that if any ONE of us falls prey to such persecution, we will ALL fight back. We will do this in the following ways:

Speak out in a UNITED voice for anyone of us who falls victim to the government targeting/suppression/spying

Raise money for legal council

Speak out across the internet community and expose the government's tactics

Fight policies that expand the government's power to suppress and diminish the people's voice

Work to expose the government's tactics to the American public and publicize their unconstitutional targeting of individuals who are innocent of any wrongdoing....persecuted only for exercising their right to free speech and dissent

The Pact is for peaceful individuals ONLY. It is not designed to protect individuals from illegal behavior, only unfair/unconstitutional targeting of American citizens who are practicing their RIGHT to free speech and dissent. It is a sad commentary that any of us should have to sign this pact. Indeed, people who are most vested in human and civil rights have to worry that their commitment to their fellow citizens will result in persecution.

I have an enormous amount of respect for the blogging, posting, fund-raising, and work that the activists of the internet are doing.
