I got this e-mail today from Wayne. He was finally able to feel like writing his thoughts down and he wanted me to make sure that the proper people read it. He said he went to the doc today and all is going cool. He said he will be able to drive in 2 to 3 weeks and that he will be in Dallas hopefully first week of December. So check out his message below and if you wanna send him a message directly… you can do that here… Wayne Abney

A "Thank You" message from Wayne Abney (11/03/06)

Bruce and everyone,

Hey bro I have been sitting here recovering and it has been just a little over two weeks since my last surgery. Just got back from the Doc today and everything is going good. I know I have talked to you on the phone and expressed my gratitude for all that you have done but I need to do this also. I want you to know in writing (etched in stone) should you say. THANK YOU SO MUCH MY BROTHER!!!!!!!!.

When I first started hearing about the benefit I was freaking out feeling kind of pressured. I don’t know to just be a part of it, even get on line and post some things, answer some emails, and do something you know. But the problem I was way to hurt and it left me feeling weird and helpless. I felt like I needed to be a part somehow and it was driving me crazy. When I look back at it now I realize how good of a thing it was and the pressure it was causing was some of best recovery therapy ever prescribed. It gave me a reason to fight without me even realizing it at the time.

Then the radio thing on KNON “OMG” I remember waiting all week for that, then it got postponed which popularly helped again… LOL! Then when I got to talk it was fucking too cool just hearing all your voices and talking to my bro’s bring me back to the jamming days and totally forgetting my injuries for the time.

Then the night of the show was coming and I couldn’t be there, shit I felt like I was missing one of my own gigs. I couldn’t take it any more and I called my brother Ken. Couldn’t hear a word he was saying but could hear music in the back ground but couldn’t tell what it was. Later he called me back and told me I called right when the first Hammer Witch song came on, “imagine the conscience” Then I couldn’t wait for Ken to get home so I could here the details believe me sounded like he had a great time.

VERY SPECIAL THANKS TO THE “TEXAS METAL ALLIANCE”!!!!!!

Welcome to the "Home Base" for the "Legacy of Wayne" - Benefit Fest

A large group of us from the D/FW underground all came together
to make this "Benefit Fest" for Wayne Abney become a reality.

For those that havent heard what happened yet.
On August 2nd the former Bassist/Singer for
old-school-thrash-metal legends "Hammer Witch"
suffered a near-fatal motorcycle accident.

Last year Wayne moved back to his hometown of New Orleans just in
time to lose everything he owned in the destruction of Hurricane Katrina.
Abney was just about to make his return to the Dallas/Ft. Worth area and
unfortunately had this serious accident. He was in ICU for over
a week with injuries to his head, spine, neck and back...
along with broken facial bones.

Once he was stable enough they performed surgery on his
injuries. Wayne was finally released from the Hospital after a few weeks,
but he will still need more surgeries. Abney admits to being in unbearable
pain and knows he has a long road ahead of him. But, he has hope
and intentions to recover 100% from all of his injuries.

This benefit happened because a lot of people care about Wayne. Sometimes
we only show our "respects" to someone after they are already dead.
This was a "scare" and luckily Wayne is still with us. So we all decided
to make this happen so he can get back on his feet and help
him get moved back to D/FW.
