The European Union is comprised of 25 member states, united through the Maastricht Treaty (formally The Treaty on European Union) in 1992, albeit the origins actually lie somewhere in the early 1950's. Since then the EU has become much more than a trade agreement and seems to bear all the hallmarks of an entirely independent nation, for example its own national anthem - Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 ('Ode to Joy'), its own flag and even the introduction of the single currency (Euro) controlled by the central European Bank. Here I hope to bring together citizens of the European Union.
