Group Leader:

"I'm running for President because I'm fed up with bad government, corrupt politicians, and arrogant officials. Like you, I'd like the government to support my liberty, protect and serve my family, respect my personal property and stop passing and enforcing laws that assume I have the intelligence of a child."

About Steve Kubby

Steve Kubby is the only 2008 presidential candidate who's played a key role in passing pro-freedom legislation, then gone to court -- and to jail -- defending that legislation. Since the passage of Proposition 215 in 1996, twelve states have adopted "compassionate use" laws to protect patients whose ailments require them to use medical marijuana.

As a founder and director of the American Medical Marijuana Association, Steve Kubby has continued to fight for Americans' right to protect their health without facing political persecution. In that role, he has negotiated with federal regulators, including the Attorney General of the United States, on behalf of patient rights.

Like some other former, current or likely presidential candidates, Steve Kubby is a cancer patient. As a matter of fact, he is the longest-surviving known victim of malignant phenochromocytoma, a rare form of adrenal cancer with a 100% fatality rate within five years. Steve has lived with malignant phenochromocytoma for more than 30 years, and his condition remains under control ... thanks to medical marijuana.

Since his first cancer diagnosis in 1968, Steve has led a National Geographic expedition up Mt. Shasta, flown jet fighter aircraft at the US Navy's "Top Gun" school, skied most of the world's most prominent slopes, conducted exploratory scuba dives in Aruba, Bonaire and the British Virgin Islands, published the number one ski magazine in seven countries, and built a successful property management company, which he sold and which remains in business.

Steve is the author of The Politics of Consciousness (1995) and, with Ed Rosenthal, Why Marijuana Should Be Legal (1996).

Why I'm voting for Steve Kubby

I'm a college student. I don't come from a rich family, but I'm smart, and want to have opportunities in life- not just for careers, but also for health. I want to know I can breathe and not worry that the air is going to harm my body. I want to know I can eat safe, healthy food, and have access to whatever medicine I feel I need to help my body. I want my future children and my nephew and sister to have access to a good education. I want access to a good education. I want to save our land from becoming a giant parking lot. I want people to be safe. I want to be free to live the way I want to, as long as I harm no one. I want to truly have the choice to be a construction worker, president, or a housewife, and be respected as much either way. I want to know that the government workers my family and I pay taxes to fund aren't going to break down my door at 6 in the morning, kill my pets, destroy my property, and arrest me for having possession of a plant. I want to be proud of my country.
I truly believe Steve Kubby can make the changes necessary for our country to get there, because he's not a politician- at least, he's not in league with the rest of them. He's a normal American guy, who wants the same things I do. He's using the little freedom that hasn't been taken away from us yet to run for office so he can take a stand and try to make a change. Please consider Steve Kubby for President of the United States of America. Be proud that you too are doing something to turn this country around. It's all about what happens now, isn't it? Make history people.
