Luke Pritchard – lead vocals, rhythm guitar


Luke Pritchard (born c. 1985) is an English musician. He is currently the lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist for the indie band The Kooks. Pritchard was born in Worthing, West Sussex and grew up in Clapham, London. His father, musician Bob Pritchard, died when he was very young. He attended the Brit School of Performing Arts and Technology, and Brighton Institute of Modern Music where The Kooks formed in 2003.
He has previously dated Katie Melua, with whom he studied at college, and Fearne Cotton




Hugh Harris – lead guitar


Hugh Harris (born c. 1987) is the lead guitarist for popular British indie band, The Kooks. He is 19 years old and comes from Brighton. His guitar of choice is a Gibson ES 335. He changes amps around a lot but mostly uses fender, vox and hiwatt valve amps. He also provides backing vocals for the kooks




Max Rafferty – bass guitar


Max Rafferty is the bass guitarist for popular British indie band, The Kooks. Prior to joining the Kooks, he lived in Bridgnorth, Shropshire, England. He attended Bridgnorth Endowed School.




Paul Garred – drums, percussion


Paul Garred is the percussionist for popular British indie band, The Kooks.
Although the band was formed in Brighton, Garred was born in nearby Seaford.





The Kooks debut album, Inside In - Inside Out, spent more than half of 2006 in the UK Top 20 and has sold more than 1,000,000 copies in the UK.






Luke Pritchard is self-confessed to be "tone deaf" which he announced to fans on "Friday Night with Jonathan Ross". However, it was alleged that he got drunk in the green room of the studio before being interviewed, and as a consequence said he was tone deaf.
The band refused to be interviewed on Channel 4's Popworld after, in the course of their first interview on the show, Simon Amstell made repeated references to Luke Pritchard's ex-girlfriend, Katie Melua.
They recorded a cover from Gnarls Barkley hit "Crazy" in a small street in Paris, on the Radio 1 Live Lounge and performed it also during a summer Belgian talk show under the Galleries of the Ostend Casino.
Several of the songs released on their debut album, Inside In/Inside Out are believed to be written about Luke Pritchard's former girlfriend Katie Melua], including "She Moves In Her Own Way".
The song Naïve, which catapulted them to stardom was written by Luke Pritchard when he was 16 years old.
The Kooks have recently announced that they are currently working on their second album and are hoping for a spring 2007 release date.
Luke Pritchard has stated in several interviews that he wrote every single on Inside in/Inside out to the standard that they could be released.
Kooks is a song by David Bowie, which featured on his 1971 album Hunky Dory.
Appapantly there is a Swedish band with the same name.
