Welcome to the Special Interest Group: Social Computer


Social Computer started as a conceptual, philosophically based platform concept. It was built around a large building in the north of Holland which served as a basis for constructs of a societal nature. By this I mean that the ideas created for the building would have the requirement of benefitting everyone possible in as many ways as imaginable.



This platform because a repository of literally hundreds of tweaks to the existing methods employed within our society. As far as possible I aimed to meet and talk with as many different personalities and mentalities as possible. During this process of discovery, a wide array of enthusiasm, suggestions and new methods were shared and uncovered.



The larger the idea grew, the faster it grew and to a large extent started to advance my awareness of the unlerlying patterns and methods in society. Through belief in benefitting everyone humanity, motivation for positive change and deep understanding of systems the idea became something that can be deeply benefit humankind.



The platform could be compared with web2.0 in the sense that it opens up a whole new layer of interaction. With this idea in mind it already became easy to surf the cutting edge of many areas of development simultaneously and in a connected fashion. The areas of development are numerous, but can be summarised with the following list of keywords.



Democracy, Education, Technology, Participation, Invention, Gaming, Entertainment, Marketing, Research, Economy, Artificial Intelligence, Networking, Employment, Communication, Collaboration, Security, Learning, ... The list actually continues much further and I am sure we could all easily imagine a few more.



I am creating a module I call EMU (Event Modelling Unit) which can be implemented and conferences and symposiums which have an intellectual setting. The EMU implements platforms that would augment and diversify events by implementing new technologies, methods of interaction, expression, forum and games !



I also like the idea of this event platform to be seen as an emulation of the Social Computer. Since I don’t have the « Social Hardware » to create one yet, it also acts as a research device for the overall concept. It brings together a group of people who will collectively create Social Computers and create proofing tools for the concept.

If you want to post news or related items please use the bulletins. I will use the topics to represent subprojects. I figure we can discuss and develop subprojects as they arise. Please don't feel under any pressure to participate. I'm just trying to keep everyone involved :)
