The Eagle and The Condor together shall rise.

Few people are aware that there are two universities in Davis.

The "other" one is D-Q University, a tribally-controlled community college that has a focus on Native Americans, Xican@s and Indigenous Peoples all over Turtle Island (Anahuak).

It is the only tribal university in California and has faced severe financial and accreditation issues.

Founded in 1971 by Native American and Xican@ activists (who risked their lives to occupy the land), it is the only indigenous-controlled institution of higher learning located outside a reservation. D-Q U was founded on a revolutionary vision for a place of higher education that is centered around teaching in the ways of our ancestors, not in the ways of the dominant society.

D-Q stands for Deganawidah-Quetzalcoatl.

D-Q U derives its name from two important figures. The ''D'' stands for Deganawidah, the name of the Great Peacemaker who inspired the founding of the Iroquois Confederacy.

The ''Q'' represents Quetzalcoatl, an Aztec prophet symbolizing the principles of wisdom/sacred knowledge and self-discipline.

This school needs our support! Get involved!
