Penny Singleton (b 9-15-1908, d 11-12-2003) and Arthur Lake (b 4-17-1905, d 1-9-1987) played the characters of Blondie and Dagwood, along with Larry Simms as Baby Dumpling (aka Alexander) and Marjorie Kent as Cookie and Daisy the dog. There were 28 films made from 1938 to 1950. Blondie was also on radio from 1939 to 1950. There was a TV series that lasted only 9 months in 1957 and Pamela Britton played Blondie instead of Penny Singleton. Penny was also the voice of Jane Jetson from the Jetsons cartoon series. I watched the Blondie movies when I was growing up and loved them. The DVDS are very hard to find but I managed to find some. The movies are now hardly shown on TV and it is a shame because these are classic and Penny Singleton was such a beautiful woman and many people do not know who she is.
