While ÉCU 2008’s goal is to bring Worldwide attention to European independent filmmakers, there are also four foreign categories (hyperlink to foreign categories) open to independent filmmakers from The Americas, Africa and Asia.

The festival will take place in Paris at La Bibliothèque Nationale de France in March 2008.

Since its inception three years ago, The European Independent Film Festival (ÉCU) has established itself as a fantastic arena for independent filmmakers from around the World to screen their films to large audiences made up of a cinema-loving public who are seeking alternatives to the offerings of major studios, as well as to agents, talent scouts, production company representatives, distributors and established producers looking for new projects and raw talent. Of course several hundred independent filmmakers from around the World will be in Paris to participate in the ÉCU 2008 Film Festival experience.

To make the ÉCU Film Festival 2008 a rewarding film festival experience, festival attendees will be able to attend editing workshops run by AVID and screenwriting labs hosted by Scriptshark join in on discussion panels and get hands-on experience with the latest filmmaking technology.

With interest from large sections of European and International press this is a great opportunity for independent filmmaker to get recognition for their films. Attending directors will also have the opportunity to speak about their films at our ‘Speak to the Directors’ panel sessions which take place throughout the festival.

“ The European Independent festival has proved to be a true breakthrough for Indie Filmmakers in Europe. ÉCU 2008 offers European independent filmmakers the chance to screen their films to an audience hungry for high-quality independent films, exposes them to other independent filmmaker’s work and gives them a forum to exchange ideas with other filmmakers. I believe that all of this will help them a great deal in their future filmmaking ventures”. Scott Hillier, President of The European Independent Film Festival.

What people are saying about ECU.

Hi!
I just wanted to drop you a line to thank you again for a GREAT time in Paris! I am just back in LA, and already, my email box is full with notes from Jan-Willem (director of "Nu"), Marianna, Paul Anderson, Iain McLaughlin, etc...

At the fest, I got approached by a London-based agent, offered a part in a feature, and also got some distribution interest...I'd say it was a dandy weekend! Wouldn't you!? Thank you for all your hard work, and that of your volunteers... Quote from Dawn Westlake, director of the feature film ‘God's Great Pleasure’.
