The Canadian Seal Hunt is the largest slaughter of marine mammals on the PLANET.

In 2006, at least 354,344 seals in the North Atlantic were killed—almost all of them babies as young as 12 days. In fact, 98% of the seals killed were three months of age or younger!

The Canadian government allows fishermen to club and shoot these defenseless animals just to earn a few extra bucks by selling their skins.




The HSUS's ProtectSeals team goes out on the ice in Canada to document the hunt and bring it to the eyes of the world. Exposing the cruelty has put movements to end the slaughter in motion. We will continue to do so until the hunt is banned.
