I started this unofficial fan group because I like Derren Brown and his magical prowess (not to mention the amazing goatee). Magic in general really interests me and although I don't perform (I just don't have the talent) I love watching people perform tricks, illusions and effects. I like other magicians as well but Derren is my favourite and deals with "magic, suggestion, psychology, misdirection, and showmanship.” Please be careful about magical exposure within this forum! Thank You!

Derren's NOT On MySpace
as seen on Derrenbrown.co.uk/news
12th September 2007

It has come to our attention that there are people claiming to be (and posing as) Derren on a number of "social networking" sites such as MySpace.
We would like to inform you that Derren has never and will never use any of these sites (e.g. MySpace, Facebook, BeBo, etc).
One individual in particular has emailed members of the public posing as Derren. We would like to make it clear that this practice is illegal and we are considering legal action against that person.
If anyone has had correspondence with any of these people pretending to be Derren, please email any evidence to legal@derrenbrown.co.uk
Thanks.

Release Derren Brown's Trick Of The Mind 3.

TV Series and Specials

Derren first came to our screens in 2000 with his very successful 'Mind Control' series which has recently been repackaged and aired in the USA with some tricks redone and some new bits added.
This was followed by the TV Specials 'Russian Roulette' (2003), 'Séance' (2004) and 'Messiah' (2005). 'Russian Roulette' created quite a lot of attention from the media and the public when Derren decided to play Russian Roulette with a loaded gun (blanks or no blanks if it went wrong it was going to have a bad ending).
Luckily all went well and Derren was back with 'Séance' which also created a record amount of complaints even before the show was aired. Derren gathered with a group of Students in a dark, empty building and told them the story of a suicide pact between twelve students in 1974. The séance was to try and contact one or more of the spirits using version stages and methods including a séance and using a Ouija board. The audience at home were also involved. At the end of the show, Derren explained everything that had happened and how it had been achieved.
'Messiah' saw Derren visit the USA (where he wasn't very well known at the time). The main point of the show was to convince five leading experts in fields such as talking to the dead, alien abductions and Christian conversions that he had powers in their particular field of expertise. He wanted to try to get them all to endorse him. This is a very interesting hour long documentary and well worth watching (as are all his specials).
There have been three series of 'Tricks of the Mind' (2004-06) including guest appearances from Stephen Fry, Simon Pegg and Robbie Williams and includes one of my favourite effects called 'Zombie'. There was a specially recorded live show called 'The Gathering' (2005) and then there was a special called 'The Heist' (2006).
In 'The Heist', Derren invited people to a special motivational seminar but in fact was going to make four of the selected people to rob an armoured vehicle using subliminal messages and sounds.
Derren filmed one of his shows from the 'Something Wicked This Way Comes' tour and this was aired December 2006.
This year (2007) we were treated to a new six episode series called 'Trick or Treat' in which Derren selected members of the public to chose a trick or a treat card. The tricks included a guy waking up in Morocco and not knowing how he got there, dying in a car crash (or so the woman thought) and an effect with a ventriloquist's dummy. As well as tricks there were some truly lovely treats like helping an OAP who knew nothing about poker come second in a poker tournament and giving a very talented pianist her love of playing back.
The USA fans were treated to a six episode series called 'Mind Control with Derren Brown' (2007) which will hopefully get the ball rolling for more shows there in the future which will maybe help Derren's dream of maybe doing a successful run in Broadway.
Derrens latest special was just aired in the UK (Feb08) and was called 'The System'.

Derren Brown has written some good books as well if you are interested in how he does the amazing things he does. Absolute Magic & Pure Effect were published by H & R Magic Books but are very difficult to find and buy now except on places like EBay. His newest book is Tricks of the mind which is now available in Hard and Paper back versions and can be purchased from any good book store.
