Scottish philosopher David Hume (1711-1776) stated “a wise man proportions his belief to the evidence” and created the maxim “That no testimony is sufficient to establish a miracle, unless the testimony be of such a kind, that its falsehood would be more miraculous than the fact which it endeavours to establish.” This method of evidence based reasoning is the basis of what we here at Skeptics Gold Coast believe is our best hope of overcoming the potent ignorance and irrationality that permeates societies the world over.

Under the direction of myself, Jayson D Cooke, Skeptics Gold Coast will engage in scientific investigation and journalistic research to investigate claims made by people on a wide range of subjects. We also strongly encourage engaging in discussions to further understanding of the use and vital processes of critical thinking and the application of reason and the scientific method. Remember however not to take my word for it on any matter, the ideal case is that every individual should make his own mind up on the basis of the evidence rather than appealing to some authority, skeptical or otherwise.
