In World War II, the Nazi’s brutally murdered six million human beings. The purpose of holocaust education is to urge us never to forget the atrocities that people can inflict on one another. The theme behind the Auschwitz Holocaust Museum is: “We must never forget.” Well, we have forgotten, and the world has watched as a million people perished in Rwanda, and again are standing by as over 200,000(BBC) people have been killed in Darfur. And more are being killed every day. Africa historically has been oppressed and overlooked. Although, we have vowed that we will never allow a holocaust to occur under our watch, which is exactly what is occurring today. It is shameful that this could happen in our lifetime, but even more incredible that the vast majority of the world is not doing a thing about it. With issues this complicated, it may seem overwhelming to try and help; however, a letter to the proper officials is a simple and effective way to make a difference. In the time it takes to complete a personality test or read one of your friend’s surveys, you can make a difference. If we unite and send in letters, we will speak with ONE voice; help make a difference in the world, and save lives of our fellow human beings. Darfur crosses all party lines. Whether you are a far-left democrat, a right-wing republican or anywhere in between, this is an issue everyone can unite behind.

If you are interested in helping, please take five minutes to go to the following websites, www.savedarfur.org or www.eyesondarfur.org and fill in the form letters the sites provide. Then send invites to all of your friends for this site. Finally if you want, post why you spoke out about this issue! Joseph Stalin once said: “The death of one man is a tragedy, the death of a million is a statistic.” Do not let Darfur become a statistic: do something, make your voice heard. Together we can make a difference.
