About Doctor Steel:
Quite small for his age, cursed with a childhood stutter and being an only child, the boy who would one day become Dr. Phineas Waldolf Steel spent much of his youth isolated. Being kept at a distance from the other children in the neighborhood he invested most of his time indoors creating his own worlds by drawing, animating stop motion films, building contraptions and making music.
Enrolled in a private school he excelled in his studies. It was in this strict environment that he learned the importance of dedicated work habits as well as the importance of keeping all independent thought hidden from authority. Growing ever more bored with his education as he entered into a public high school he yearned to be released into the “real world” so that he might begin a career in art.
Upon graduating, however, he was swiftly rejected by art school. Due to the wide range of talents he displayed he was told that he had no focus. Ironically, it was only a year later that he found himself using those varied talents and working for the entertainment industry in the areas of character design, special effects, animation, video games and toys.
After years of working for the industry he became frustrated with the frequent lack of originality he encountered. As a result, he went into business for himself.
Via the Internet he launched www.doctorsteel.com . It was through this medium that he was able to cohesively showcase his various talents to the world. Soon enough his artwork, music, performance, photography, design, and ideals began to strike a chord with a generation who, like himself, had grown tired of the existing, uninspired and manufactured world of modern entertainment.
Since the launch of his website, Dr. Steel has been gaining awareness around the globe as citizens from all over the world enlist in his Army of Toy Soldiers. Upon enlisting, Toy Soldiers spread the word of his creations and ideology while embarking on various missions and continually building support for Dr. Steel.
As a published author he has presented his theories in magazines such as Paranoia; The Conspiracy Reader , as well as various online sources gaining interest and support from all corners of the globe.
As a musician, his albums have united an eclectic fan base as diverse and varied as Dr. Steel's music itself. Bringing his music to life through the live Dr. Steel Show, the events allow his troops to amass in one location, enjoying a refreshing taste of ingenuity in a multi-media performance fusing live music, costumes, puppetry and video projection.
His vision for building a Utopian Playland stretches far and wide across the globe and is based on the simple ideology of making fun the top priority. With many already touting him as World Emperor, Dr. Steel's ever-growing army rallies to support his plans for a “world make over”.
Dr. Steel and his Army of Toy Soldiers march forth to extinguish fear from the minds of the people and to instill inspiration and creativity into the lives of each and every one of us.

Utopian Playground:
With most of us living in cities and urban areas dictated by the need to accommodate a growing population, functional design and pleasing aesthetics have greatly suffered. This lack of planning has resulted in the evolution of an environment that generates not only a physically unhealthy atmosphere, but a psychologically unhealthy one as well.
Inevitably, we are products of our environment and when the places in which we are living are disjointed, then so are our lives. Many of us crawl through traffic jams towards jobs we hate, only to be allowed scarcely enough to time to consume “convenient”, unhealthy food on a daily basis. Day by day these poisons attack not only our bodies but our minds.
Dr. Steel recognizes the problems of this modern environment but he also sees great potential. From innovative city planning to the use of alternative fuel and transportation technology, Dr. Steel envisions an expansive new world driven by efficient and pleasing design.
“Today, it seems, the larger a city becomes the further it departs from any sense of unity. When once a grand city would unify its inhabitants, the modern metropolis manages to clutter and confine one's existence…(cities of today) have no focused design, no intentional awe inspiring monuments and no sense of unity from which it's people may draw. We're living in an ant farm which has been shaken like an Etch-A-Sketch and we're disjointed and scrambling to find our way.”
Dr. Steel is aware of the myriad of clean, alternative fuel sources already in development, as well as the potential for automated, artificial intelligence bringing efficiency to our daily lives.
Putting the “fun” back in functional is Dr. Steel's vision. A Utopian Playland incorporates the pleasing aesthetics and entertainment of a theme park with the needs and functionality of a well designed community.
A grand transformation is needed in order to supply the world with such an environment and with that; a new world view must begin to take place. Dr. Steel believes that such a revolution begins with the individual's perception of reality.

The dictionary defines the word toy as meaning: “A thing or matter of little to no value or importance; a trifle.”
To this, I heartily disagree! Toys have become the most important thing in our modern lives. Toys aren't just children's games or action figures. They evolve as we evolve. As we age our toys change form to fit our needs. Later in life toys become the clothes we buy, the music we listen to, the vacations we take, the houses we want to live in and the cars we want to drive.
It is happiness that we desire and this tool can manifest in a variety of different ways limited only by our imagination.
The desire for toys in our society is obvious.The media displays a constant flow of advertising to showcase the wide variety of entertainment available to the paying customer. Unfortunately, it is the stress of living in this society which creates the hunger for more and more toys.
It is by living in a society which does not nurture the sincere passions of the individual from birth that drives us into a consumerist black hole of ultimate despair. We are unsatisfied from the beginning and the only escape we are offered is entertainment. As Ted Kosinski pointed out “Without the entertainment industry the system probably would not have been able to get away with putting as much stress-producing pressure on us as it does.”
Indeed, it would seem rather convenient for those in the positions of power to be able to utilize the media as the proverbial carrot at the end of the stick as well as a smoke and mirrors distraction from reality.
Being a designer of toys, I enjoy developing and bringing to life new creations that others will enjoy experiencing. However much I enjoy the creation process of such toys, it would be far too short sighted to believe that simply producing more toys for the world would solve all of our problems. No, toys are but a stepping stone in traversing a long and winding road to the new world.
While the entertainment industry helps to numb a far greater pain in society, one must listen to the cries of the masses and look to the source of this pain. There is clearly a hunger for entertainment and that hunger comes from the grumbling belly of dissatisfaction. Existing toys are but a quick fix. The real need is not being met.
The lack of creativity and vision in this world is a cancer, spreading throughout our lives leaving an uninspired flood of apathy in its wake. For just as toys in any one of their various forms can make us happy, so should our lives become an experience of play.
It is not until we shift our focus of transforming this world into a play land that we shall begin to awaken from this dull slumber. We must join together, in a vision of making fun the top priority. There is a spark inside each and every one of us which must be reignited to remind us what it is that truly makes us happy.
There is a toy surprise inside us all but we must first tear through the false packaging which this world has manufactured around us.
