Alliance is a communist party organizing in the USA and Canada. It was formed in 1989 to promote principled, non-sectarian communist unity, the movement now being fractured into many currents and parties. Unity should be based on basic agreement and honest debate about the lessons of the past and goals for the future. We also advocate creating broad united fronts for joint action, for example to oppose the Bush Administration and its wars.

Only the working class can replace capitalism by a more humane and democratic system. Socialism will eliminate unemployment and economic crises, wage slavery, poverty, imperialist war, capitalist waste
and environmental degradation, national oppression and neocolonialism, and institutional sexual and racial oppression and discrimination. Socialism is the intermediate step to the most humane social system, communism, which has not yet been achieved in any country. Alliance is dedicated to creating a workers’ government in North America, through electoral means and mass action in the streets together, whatever is necessary.

The only lasting working class revolutions have been those guided by Marxist-Leninist theory and practice. We hold that only the Soviet Union, led by Vladimir Ilyich Lenin and Joseph Stalin, and Albania, led by Enver Hoxha, reached socialism. These governments were toppled from within by pro-capitalist revisionists, starting under the banner of “anti-Stalinism,” which is really anti-socialist rhetoric. Other countries inthe so-called socialist bloc were diverted by revisionist leaders or were/are socialist only in name.

Alliance proudly stands in the emancipatory tradition of the American, French, Russian and Chinese revolutions, the Paris Commune of 1871, the anti-fascist and other national liberation struggles, and leaders such as Karl Marx, Friedrich Engels, Lenin, Stalin, Hoxha, and the countless others around the world who have fought, and continue to fight, for human freedom and progress.
