Frank Kozik is one of the most successful and recognizeable of the "lowbrow" scene of artists as championed in Juxtapoz Magazine. Getting his start in the late 80's doing posters and album art for bands like Ministry, Nirvana, Sonic Youth and zillions of others, Kozik in the 90's turned his focus on running a record label called Man's Ruin, in which he chose the bands and did the artwork for each release. This label was ahead of its time, bringing now-huge groups like Queens Of The Stone Age, Turbonegro and Eagles Of Death Metal to the attention of the world at large far before anyone else was aware. Even though Frank had (and is) producing fine art during this entire time, he then in the new millenium set his sights on the burgeoning designer toy world, and has now released many oustanding toys of his own design through companies like Kidrobot and Toy2R. Best known is his "Smorkin' Labbit," which I strongly feel, is our generation's own Campbell's Soup Can, thereby making Frank Kozik our own Andy Warhol. Yeah, he's that great.
