NASA is a student organization that has been at Kansas State University for over 25 years. It was originally created to offer a support system for Native American students, but the group also acts as an information resource for those who wish to learn about Native American history and culture. The group is open to all individuals of any ethnicity and really is just a place to have fun!
The group has recently experienced a major overhaul... but that just means that there are more opportunities for everyone to give input to make our group AWESOME!!! Officer positions are open to anyone with ideas and enthusiasm!
In the past, NASA has hosted events such as dance groups, native speakers, musicians, and artisans, a powwow (semi-annually), and a basketball tournament among others! The group has participated in the UPC Festival of Nations, the Diversity in Action Conference, "Taste of Cultures" - a celebration of ethnic foods, Dow World Day Festival, Big XII American Indian Leadership Conference and more!
We're really looking to start lots of new fun activities and attract more members so we can be bigger and better than ever! Currently there are ideas for a beading circle, dance groups, etc.
If your a skin coming to Kansas State in the near future, don't hesitate to send us a greeting. If you're just someone in the Manhattan, KS area interested in native american culture we'll be happy to help out as well! If you are interested in becoming a member or learning more, you can just message the group president on her myspace (http://www.myspace.com/LeezleKazoo) or check out our website for more infor (http://www.ksu.edu/nasa).
