Please check out our new site: http://www.wearemanchester.co.uk/ For over 2 years we have been recommend and review clubs, bars, gig venues, and other things Manchester. Let's make this THE Manchester group! COMING UP: In The City 2009: Preview Join hundreds of record company execs to discover the next big thing in music this weekend at In The City festival. Whittled down from a list of 100s of bands, 32 unsigned bands will be playing at least one gig at venues across the city. For a full list of bands see here. Our top must-see bands are: * Jesca Hoop * Rose Elinor Dougall * Engine-Earz Experiment * Gallops * The Crookes This year there will be showcases including NME Radar, SJM Concerts, Love Music Hat Racism and Drowned In Sound’s showcase is also its 9th birthday celebration and features Frightened Rabbit, Clues, Munch Munch and Esben And The Witch. Wristbands are available for £20 to see the bands, but delegates will also get access to the industry panels based at the Midland Hotel to discuss the use of music in video games, digital licensing, and an event which includes composer Joe Duddell who recently worked with Elbow for the gig with the Hallé orchestra. Considering there was no music industry convention in the UK until this event started in 1992, the event now has developed partnerships with the BBC, Xfm, and the NME plus many more, making it one of the biggest events on the calendar.
