Our Name:
Back in 1999 we needed a name, just any name, and the Cab Calloway Dictionary from 1944 happened to be handy. A year later, we couldn't change it - it had stuck.

Mezz (n.) -- anything supreme, genuine. Ex., "this is really the mezz."
Jelly (n.) -- anything free, on the house.

We then had the brilliant idea to smoosh the two words into one, so that people would forever write it incorrectly as Mezz Jelly...
