THE IDEA:
Join in, and sign up to support Stargate and to deliver the message to MGM that it would be nicest to have the Stargate Movies released globally all on the same day! This site is friendly to MGM, not a complaint but rather in support of a good suggestion that will benefit both MGM, and YOU (the fans!).
This site is to show support for all the wonderful fans from the great variety of countries around the world. Stargate is now shown in over 120 countries, and everyone is appreciated!

WHY?:
- If the Movies are released in the UK first, and then released in the USA 90 days later, everyone in the USA would need to wait 3 months before you can get to see it.
--- If however, they are released worldwide, then everybody will be able to get them on the same day.
- If the Movies are released in the USA first, and then released in the Australia 90 days later, everyone in Australia would need to wait 3 months before you can buy it.
--- Releasing the Movies worldwide on the same day will eliminate that.
- If the movies are released in 1 country first, say, Canada, then the people in that country will be watching it, chatting about it, posting about it, and knowing the whole story and how it ends. With todays internet, it will be nearly impossible to avoid coming across things that people have posted about it, ruining the surprise. A movie is the most fun when it`s all new, and you dont have any preconceived notions about it, and you can experience all its wonder. If there is a long delay before release in 1 country versus another, it will be almost impossible to avoid seeing a spoiler.
THE BENEFITS FOR VIEWERS (YOU!):
--- If the movies are released everywhere at the same time, then there'..'s, but if there is a tremendously long delay before it is available where they are, and other people have it already, some people get impatient, and rather than buying it, they are going to get tired of waiting and go poke around online for it.
THE BENEFITS FOR MGM:
--- If the DVD's are released all around the world, at the same time, then there is more of a chance to have successful sales! This eliminates some of the desire or necessity to seek it online if the avenue is provided to PURCHASE it. Most Stargate fans really prefer to own the show and enjoy it, so making it available for everyone will assure minimum gray-area copying and downloading, and file sharing and youtube viewing, and instead, it will promote sales of the nice quality DVD's and support MGM and Stargate, and promote maximum sales and maximum success for SG-1!
So please join in, and sign up to support Stargate and to deliver the message to MGM that it would be nicest to have the Stargate Movies released globally all on the same day!

RE: PLEASE RELEASE THE STARGATE SG-1 DVD MOVIES WORLD WIDE ON THE SAME DAY.
It has come to our attention that a tentative release date for Stargate: The Ark of Truth has been set for North America.
The reason for this letter is to request that you seriously consider releasing this movie simultaneously World Wide. We have put together many beneficial reasons for this request.
In these days of the Internet, Broadband and high speed downloading, PC technology and DVR technology, it is no longer a safe assumption that when a DVD is released in one country, those in others are going to sit and wait patiently for it to be released in their own (especially one that has been as eagerly anticipated as Stargate: The Ark of Truth). Copies of it will be winging their way around the globe faster than many people can get the wrapper off. Therefore, the solution for this is to do a simultaneous World Wide release. Though it won’t stop all from making pirated copies and uploading it on to the internet for others to download, releasing it World Wide will stop those who would not normally go to those lengths to do so. It will stop the necessity, and provide the avenue for everyone to purchase it.
It is clear to any regular visitors to the many Stargate forums and websites, that fans are very saddened by having to wait the months, sometimes even years for proper DVDs to be available in their home countries. This desperation leads to the temptation to seek it online.
Sci Fi channel made this blunder when they aired the television series in one country weeks (and what became months) after it had already been available in another part of the world. Ratings for the Sci Fi channel declined. By the time Mark Stern of Sci Fi channel aired the new episodes in the other region, all of the viewers had already heard spoilers, had seen clips from the show, seen photos, heard the stories, and the endings of most of the episodes, or even unfortunately watched the entire show having gotten it online. Therefore, when it came time for it to air, nobody rushed home to watch it live, because everyone had already seen it. Thus they ended up reducing their own audience. Please don't make the same mistake.
Before the internet, people may have been unaware that one country already had the item available. But today, news travels fast. People no longer live in blissful ignorance of the fact that their favorite show or eagerly anticipated movie is available in one country long before it is available in theirs. People all over the world find out that it has been released in one country, and if they have no means to purchase it in their area, will seek alternate means to obtain it, this unfortunate situation actually creates more desire to seek it online. The way to alleviate many of these illegal activities would be to release the movie simultaneously, WORLD WIDE. We must accept the fact that the World Wide Web is, in fact, World Wide, and has changed everything. And rather than fighting it, instead, embrace it.
Stargate SG-1 fans are sincerely passionate about the show, and many of us are still hurting from the shock of the cancellation, and still feel truly saddened. Thus, the announcement of the movies was like a wonderful light at the end of a very long, dark tunnel. We all have been hanging in there anticipating every tiny tidbit of news connected to the movies. And no, for the majority of us, Stargate Atlantis cannot replace the original show we truly love and still wish would be reinstated.
Therefore, we implore you, remember that Stargate SG-1 is adored WORLD WIDE. We all spend money on DVDs, merchandise, conventions etc. Surely we have earned the right to expect that the movies are released simultaneously WORLD WIDE.
We ourselves NEVER subscribe to illegal downloading or pirating activities. However, for some out there, being preculded from any way of buying the genuine DVD often creates desperation for those who have no easy avenue to purchase it. You want good DVD sales for the movies. People all over the world truly want to buy legal copies of the STARGATE DVDs. And this goes for people in all countries who wish to view it at the same time as our North American counterparts. Supply and demand! A simple equation really! You supply, customers buy. If you do not supply, potential customers seek it by other means. Fans truly wish to purchase it. Stargate is something that fans actually pride themselves in owning genuine purchased DVDs.
Please read and survey all of the wonderful Stargate community sites on the internet and understand how badly people in all countries World Wide want to be able to purchase the 2 movies at the same time as people in North America.
Our forum alone at KEEPTHEGATEOPEN.NET contains Stargate fans from all over the world. People from a wide variety of other countries, The United Kingdom, Germany, Australia, Estonia, Poland, Finland, Sweden, France, Italy, Peru, Argentina, Portugal, Spain, Japan, and more, and this site represents only small fraction of the huge amount of potential customers around the world. Please don't compel some of them to obtain it through file-sharing. Or have the desire to purchase it ruined by accidentally stumbling upon spoilers posted on the internet by those who have already seen it. That ruins the joy and experience. And it makes some feel left out of the conversation, when everyone else online has seen it and is enjoying the experience. Publishing the DVD world wide will solve much of the need for any of these people to seek it online.
It's a win-win situation. It will mean more sales, revenue and success for MGM, and fans around the world will love it. Please release the DVDs globally if you are truly interested in maximizing the return on your investment. Release STARGATE simultaneously worldwide. All SG-1 fans around the world have been anticipating the release of the movies for months, and we don’t want to see a situation where it only sells in one region, and then the rest of the potential customers in the rest of the markets get neglected and end up not buying it because they obtained it online. We sincerely want to see the STARGATE SG-1 movies become a world wide blockbuster and a huge sales success for MGM, and let that lead to the production of more SG-1 movies, and that means more wonderful enjoyment and adventure for Fans all around the world!
