A group devoted to discussion of animal welfare issues, including pet overpopulation, shelters, rescues, and animal cruelty. This group does NOT support total animal liberation, breed specific legislation, or other agendas of extreme animal rights activists (including PETA). We do support humane treatment of all animals.
Welcome to all animal welfare advocates! Please be patient as it may take a few days for me to process your membership request. This is to avoid trolls and spam.
This group supports:
- Pet adoption
- Animal shelters and rescues
- Spay/neuter of all pet dogs and cats (and rabbits, rats, etc. when available)
- Strong animal cruelty laws and enforcement
- Responsible, life-long care of pets/companion animals
- Feral cat
trap-neuter-release programs
- Pro-active adoption programs that still sufficiently screen adopters
- Organic, sustainable, and humane agricultural practices
This group opposes:
-
Commercial and
backyard breeding
- Declawing
- Breed specific legislation
- Arbitrary limit laws
- Total animal liberation, or the ending of keeping domestic animals
- 24/7
chaining/penning of dogs and other animals
- Factory farming
- The use of violence or property destruction (arson, etc.) to meet our goals
This group accepts:
- Animal testing for human and veterinary medical needs when no other alternatives exist
-
Responsible and limited breeding of purebred animals to preserve breed heritage and working lines
- Euthanasia as necessary due to health, temperament, or, in the case of a shelter, space issues
Members, please feel free to add photos of pets who never found a forever home to the group photos, our "In Memory" album.
This group does NOT allow postings of animals for sale, name-calling, posts about the tasty steak you ate last night, or posts calling omnivores murderers. We respect omnivores, vegetarians, vegans, and anything in between. If there is already a thread about a certain topic, please continue it/revive it instead of starting a new thread.
BE RESPECTFUL, FOLLOW THE RULES, AND STICK WITH THE PHILOSOPHY OF THE GROUP, OR YOU WILL BE BANNED.
