B.Y.B. (Backyard Boogie) can be explained as an island wide phenomenon. Everyone has most likely seen these stickers or wheat paste practically everywhere in the cities and streets of Hawaii. Backyard Boogie stimulates curiosity leaving one to question both the stickers and their relationship with its island wide surroundings. In most cases, people have no idea of the stickers meanings leaving one to react, and question the significance of what can only be described as “…the baby with the spray can…”

For the very few who are familiar with this sticker find the image itself amusing, and are able to derive straightforward visual pleasure without burdening themselves with an explanation. For other viewers however…they may be confused by the sticker’s constant presence and random appearances around Hawaii. Street signs, walls, and cars...bottom line, you've seen this everywhere! Many stickers have been peeled down by people who were annoyed by them, considering them as an eye sore and an act of petty vandalism. Others can only view it as wonderful works of art.

For the lucky few who’ve been able to obtain a sticker provides a souvenir or a keepsake piece of artwork. People have often demanded the sticker merely because they’ve seen it everywhere in the streets of Hawaii and possessing one provides a sense of belonging. Backyard Boogie seems mostly embraced by those who are into street or urban art. Even though some people may not know the true meaning of the stickers origin, they enjoy its slightly disruptive underground quality and wish to contribute to the furthering of its presence around the island and world in general. With that said…welcome to the B.Y.B Underground…a place where artists, curious viewers, and fans alike can interact on this island wide phenomenon.
