GROUP IS BEING SETUP AS A FOCAL POINT FOR BANDS/ARTISTS/FANS WHO DREAM OF THE DAY WHEN CELEBRITIES GET THE RECOGNITION THEY DESERVE; NAMELY, THAT THEY ARE A BUNCH OF ARSEHOLES. JOIN US IF YOU WISH TO BE PART OF A CELEBRITY CULLING SPREE. REALISTICALLY, WE PROBABLY WONT HAVE MUCH OF AN IMPACT, BUT WE WILL, WHILE TRYING, HAVE FUN ALONG THE WAY.

THE GOAL IS TO SET UP A TOUR FOR ALL BANDS INVOLVED, HELD AT ALL NIGHT VENUES; THE COMMON BELIEF HOLDING US ALL TOGETHER MUST BE A CONTEMPT FOR THE WANNABEE/CELEBRITY CHOKED ARTWORLD THAT SUCCEEDS SO WELL IN GAGGING THE REST OF US.

WE DESPERATELY WANT YOUR COMMENTS ONBOARD; YOUR OPINIONS COUNT, SO DON'T HOLD BACK!

WE FEEL THAT SITES SUCH AS MYSPACE GIVE FAR TOO MUCH HELP AND COVERAGE TO ESTABLISHED ARTISTS, WHO REALLY DON’T NEED ANY FURTHER EXPOSURE, AND IN MOST CASES, DON’T DESERVE IT.

ON MYSPACE EXISTS A LONG LIST OF QUALITY UNTAPPED ARTISTS WHO DESERVE BETTER THAN THE BUMDEAL THEY END UP WITH. IT’S UNLIKELY TO EVER HAPPEN, BUT WE HOPE TO SEE THE DAY WHEN THERE IS A POWER SHIFT AWAY FROM PLASTIC CELEBRITIES, WHO, AT THE END OF THE DAY, REALLY DON’T GIVE A DAMN ABOUT THEIR FANS, AND WHO CHURN OUT FORMULA TUNES TO BOOT. SO THE GROUP IS DESIGNED TO GIVE VOICE TO ALL ARTISTS FRUSTRATED WITH A MANUFACTURED AND TIGHTLY CONTROLLED INDUSTRY, AND TO CREATE SOME SPACE FOR GENUINE ARTISTS.

MYSPACE HAS HELPED TO REVIVE THE CAREERS OF A LARGE NUMBER OF ESTABLISHED ARTISTS WHO FADED AWAY ALL TOO SOON FIRST TIME AROUND, WHICH IS VERY NICE, BUT THAT HASN’T DONE ANY FAVORS FOR ASPIRING ARTISTS, SO NOTHING MUCH HAS CHANGED REALLY.

WE ALSO WANTED TO SEE IF ANY ESTABLISHED ARTISTS WOULD SUPPORT THIS CAUSE; WE VERY MUCH DOUBT THAT WILL HAPPEN, AS, AT THE END OF THE DAY, CELEBRITIES, BIG OR SMALL, ARE ONLY OUT FOR THEMSELVES. WE ARE WAITING TO BE PROVED WRONG BY AT LEAST ONE ESTABLISHED ARTIST WHO DOESN’T CARRY HIS PRINCIPLES IN HIS WALLET.

FINALLY, WOULD ESTABLISHED ARTISTS COME DOWN FROM THE TOP OF THE MOUNTAIN TO SHAKE YOUR HAND? WE’RE PRETTY CONFIDENT THE ONES WE KNOW AND LOVE WOULDN’T, SO, ALTHOUGH WE MAY LOVE THEIR MUSIC WE DON’T HAVE MUCH RESPECT FOR THEM AS HUMAN BEINGS.

ESTABLISHED ARTISTS, THOSE WITH GENUINE PRINCIPLES, SHOULD SEEK OUT AND PROMOTE THOSE ASPIRING ARTIST WHO CLEARLY HAVE THE TALENT AND ORIGINALITY TO SUCCEED.

MAKE CELEBRITIES HISTORY...CONSIGN THEM TO OBLIVION!

ATTACKING THE SUPERFICIALITY OF CELEBRITY STATUS IS A NECESSARY GOOD! FOR THE GOOD OF ASPIRING ARTISTS WE NEED TO MAKE WAVES; AN ATTACK ON CELEBRITY STATUS IS NOT, THOUGH, AN ATTACK ON THE TRULY TALENTED ESTABLISHED ARTIST, WHO HAS ENOUGH CLASS AND STYLE TO AVOID THE CELEBRITY TRAP.

EXCEPTIONS SHOULD NOT BE MADE,THOUGH, FOR THOSE ARTISTS, NO MATTER HOW TALENTED THEY ARE, WHO FALL INTO THIS TRAP; IF THEY ARE IN IT, THEY SHOULD GET OUT OF IT, AND ALSO TAKE AN INTEREST IN NEW TALENT!


We have lots of ideas on how we can promote one another, and have already set up groups designed to gather artists together who basically believe in the cross-promotion ideology. One of the groups is called MAKE CELEBRITIES HISTORY and we have another site called PANGAEA'S PEOPLE where artists of a similar mentality can connect and collaborate.

Will be putting a lot of work into the projects we have in mind, but have to fit it in between creating tunes and preparing for gigs. A MAKE CELEBRITIES HISTORY tour culminating in a MAKE CELEBRITIES HISTORY free festival are in the pipeline (although these ideas are just the tip of the iceberg), but we want to get everybody who is up for putting a few dents into the current world order gathered in a creative, innovative, bubble, so to speak!

To bring about the sort of change that benefits underprivileged, but seriously talented artists, enough of those artists need to get together to plant the seeds of a storm; it has to start somewhere, and someone has to take the initiative. The last time the music scene was significantly shaken up was in the latter part of the 1970’s with the arrival of Punk Rock; to go thirty years without any further significant change is way too long.

The MAKE CELEBRITIES HISTORY group was set up very recently as a starting point to what we hope might be the sort of revolution we all so desperately need if any of we aspiring artists are ever to have a chance of reaping any rewards for all the commitment we put in. The goal is to gather as many right-thinking artists to one place first before any relevant bulletins are posted. We have a truckload of ideas on where to go with all of this, but we want to find artists who are really committed to all the projects being set up. Once we find those artists, we will put our hearts and souls into furthering their careers, but we do have our own careers to think about too, so sharing the workload is the goal; once the workload is shared it will be a very light one for all concerned, but will be heavy going for the few to begin with. Because of this, any artists that simply come along for the ride will not be around to reap the benefits; deadwood will be discarded for the good of those who show real commitment.

All the projects will take a while to get off the ground, as we have to put a lot of our time into writing, creating our own visuals, and preparing to take our package out on the road, but I believe with a passion, that those artists that get involved in a meaningful way will, in the long run, benefit big time. We set up a Myspace page called PANGAEA’S PEOPLE several months ago, but soon had to put it on hold because of our own heavy workload. The intention is to get it activated again soon, and have it working in tandem with the MAKE CELEBRITIES HISTORY group, where artists can meet, cross-promote and collaborate, experimenting with a variety of partnerships until the perfect one is found. The two, the group and the page, also serving as a jump off point to other music sites where we can all connect, interact, and basically, between us, dominate those music sites. The idea is to first create a bubble protected from the wider media-by-numbers-world and then take it from there. All said projects will move forward in fits and starts so be patient whenever activities go dead, as we are, understandably, dominated by our own workload!

I would suggest, in the meantime, adding yourself to the group and page mentioned in the paragraph above, and opening accounts on the following sites, contacting me when you have done so, so I can find you, and connect you with everyone else who commits themselves to joining those sites. WE'VE DECIDED TO PROVE OUR INTENT BY GIVING THE PRODUCT OF OTHER ARTISTS A SERIOUS LISTEN--NOT JUST SKIMMING OVER A COUPLE OF TRACKS--BUT THINK SUCH AN UNDERTAKING IS ONLY VIABLE IF WE LIMIT OUR RESPONSES TO ARTISTS WHO SHOW THE SAME WILLING.

JUST ADDING NUMBERS ON A MYSPACE PAGE IS PRETTY POINTLESS; IT'S A LOT OF HARD WORK, REWARDED BY A HANDFUL OF NICE COMMENTS, WHICH SOMETIMES TURNS OUT TO BE THE SAME NICE COMMENT SENT OUT IN RESPONSE TO EACH AND EVERY FRIEND'S REQUEST--TUNES NEVER ACTUALLY GETTING A HEARING.

THERE'S SOME FABULOUS TALENT OUT THERE; HOWEVER, THE ONLY WAY TO FIND OUT JUST HOW TALENTED AN ARTIST IS, IS TO GIVE THERE STUFF A SERIOUS LISTEN. SKIMMING OVER A COUPLE OF TRACKS, USUALLY THE INTRO, PROVIDES LITTLE IN THE WAY, TOTAL PICTURE-WISE, OF AN ARTIST'S INNOVATIVE STYLE OR POTENTIAL. WE NEED TO TAKE MORE TIME OUT FOR ONE ANOTHER, SO WE CAN DEPOSIT CONSTRUCTIVE, RATHER THAN SUPERFICIAL, COMMENTS. MYSPACE WON'T BE VERY PRODUCTIVE FOR ASPIRING ARTISTS UNLESS WE FIND NEW WAYS TO MAKE IT PRODUCTIVE; UNLESS YOU ARE A GOLDEN BOY OR GIRL, YOU HAVE TO PUT IN TO GET OUT! TAKING AN INTEREST IN FELLOW ARTISTS SHOWS HUMILITY AND CLASS; TALENT WITHOUT THE LATTER ISN'T ENOUGH--THE WORLD IS FULL OF DELUSIONAL CELEBRITY WANNABES; THE LAST THING WE NEED IS MORE OF THEM

THE SHELVES OF RECORD STORES ARE LINED WITH CRAP (FROM END-TO-END), WHILE UNSIGNED ARTISTS, WHO HAVE SOMETHING SUBSTANTIAL TO OFFER, ARE CONSIGNED TO LIVE OUT THEIR LIVES ON SHELVES OF A DIFFERENT KIND. WE FEEL THAT UNLESS A NEW APPROACH IS ADOPTED BY ARTISTS ON MYSPACE, THERE WILL BE FEW WINNERS OTHER THAN THOSE ARTISTS WHO ARE ALREADY WELL ESTABLISHED. WE SUGGEST THAT THE NEXT TIME YOU ARE TEMPTED TO ADD TO YOUR CD, OR WHATEVER, COLLECTION, YOU AVOID THE HIGH STREET AND SHOP FOR GOODIES OFFERED BY ASPIRING ARTISTS INSTEAD.

CLARIFICATION:

To clear up any confusion re: MAKE CELEBRITIES HISTORY

When we speak of making celebrities history, we refer to the abundance of Bakelite celebrities out there. The media is now over-run with so-called celebrities, and the term is so freely used now, that the only meaning it has left is a derogatory one. In the current climate, any true artist tarred with the celebrity brush should consider himself well-and-truly insulted.

Making celebrities history doesn't mean artists shouldn't be celebrated for their work; a distinction exists between the two groups, with the one group suffocating the other. Upsetting the status quo is a massive undertaking; it needs the support of a massive number of artists and art lovers. It will take time, but we hope to eventually get the membership of MAKE CELEBRITIES HISTORY above 100,000; only then will it have a voice.

Our music and animation takes up most of our time, leaving us well short of the time needed to get these projects off to a flyer. It's a case of fitting them in when we can, which is a real shame, as we believe with a vengeance in the ideology underlying this project.

We send out as many invitations as we can to the MAKE CELEBRITIES HISTORY group, but until other people who believe in the ideology start sending out invitations in all the people on their friend's list, things will move a long too slowly to put any goals into action.

If you are sickened by the whole celebrity thing, and yearn for the day when artists are recognized for their artistic endeavors, we desperately need your support; we simply can't do it alone--it would take far too long.

Doors will remain firmly shut to new talent as long as the stranglehold maintained by the select few, and media moguls, continues. Artists are investing a lot of time and effort into sites like myspace, and seeing little reward for it. That situation seems to be getting worse, and it will continue to do so if we just sit around waiting for the system to change on its own.

We've received a lot of email on our other sites from people strongly endorsing the ideology behind MAKE CELEBRITIES HISTORY, but change won't happen without a little spade-work.

Please help us to gather more people into the MAKE CELEBRITIES HISTORY group by inviting people from your own friend's lists and encouraging others to do the same. Eventually we will active this site to work in tandem with the MCH group, but we need the numbers first, so we have a big enough voice to be heard.

If we didn't have so many personal commitments, we would have enough time to devote all of our energy to these projects, and under those circumstances, we are confident that our goals would be achieved much sooner rather than later, but we are passionate about our music and film making, so that is impossible.

If you are one of those disillusioned people we speak of, please get involved; trying to upset the status quo is better than not trying at all.
