Founded in 1972 by Albert Brooks, Esq. the Famous Comedians School has been the training ground for many of America's top comics for more than three decades. Notable alumni include David Cross, Jeff Garlin, Lewis Black, Larry David, Maria Bamford, Steven Wright and Super Dave Osborne.

Bob Odenkirk (class of '87), in addition to his busy acting and directing schedule, moonlights as a full professor at his alma mater. This semester Bob will be teaching Sketch Comedy Writing and the enormously popular Spit Take. Movie critic Leonard Maltin currently teaches three film study classes: Jerry Lewis and Woody Allen—What Do the French Know that We Don't?; The Sound Films of Fatty Arbuckle; and Hey Vern We Miss You—The Short But Very Influential Career of Jim Varney.

This year Albert Brooks' School for Famous Comedians will be the site for the very first Parky Awards show to be aired on HBO. The Parky Awards are for excellence in the field of comedy and are named after Albert's late father, radio comedian Harry Einstein or as he was known to his many fans, Parkyakarkus.
