Our Mission is to provide quality music instruction to children from low income families in order to enhance their lives through participation in the music community. Community Music School serves the Raleigh, NC area.

The school provides an opportunity for children from low-income families, ages 6-18, to receive individualized instruction and guidance from area professionals and instructors in most orchestral instruments in addition to piano and guitar. Each half-hour lesson costs the student only one dollar. Whenever possible and when a need exists, the school also provides and repairs instruments for the students to use free of charge for the duration of their enrollment. Music books are also provided when a need exists to encourage practicing and reading during the week. The school endeavors to motivate students and their families to participate in the cultural life of the community through performances, concert attendance, and collaborations with other arts organizations in the area.
