Featured Products of 2008:
Please give props to our new friends on myspace: Revolution Drum. These guys have created something truly amazing that should be standard with every drummer’s gear. Here is my review of some of their products available now:

The Revolution Drum Key – I have tried out numerous torque keys in the past and all the fancy off-shoots of the standard drum key but this is the first time someone got it right. This is not some fancy key that auto dials the tension to ‘auto tune drums’. We all know that those keys will not work universally to every musician’s specific needs. Our friends at Revolution Drum created a smooth sleek design to one bad @ss drum key for everyone. While preserving the ideal for drum ‘purists’ the manual function of this key remains the same and replaces any key currently in your stick bag, on your key ring, or just lying around. The genius of the design is in the contact post. It includes free unidirectional movement that matches the function of a torque screw-driver. The action is smooth and feels well balanced during use. All you need to adhere to is the old ‘righty-tighty, lefty-loosey’ rule and you will find yourself tuning drums quicker than ever before. For function, design, aesthetics and overall usefulness I give it 5 of 5 stars across the board. This key should be the new standard with everyone’s drum gear.

The Revolution Drum Stick Bag – Now here is an accessory for the new generation. I know that older generation jazz musicians may cringe at the thought of a stick bag that stands on its own, but hey… some of us don’t want to tie our bags to the floor tom! Fellow drummers, now we have independence! This can be classified as a stick bag or an accessory bag for everything. I can fit a single pedal, all my sticks, my new drum keys, earplugs, microphones, shakers, or whatever else I want in this crafty design. This is about the same length as my Zildjian bag I previously carried around, but instead of using that annoying small strap now we have a handle. To me, this is a product about function, design and choice. I used to be a traditionalist but now I have converted. When I first received it I wasn’t used to the triangular design. Now that I have all my accessories in the same bag I don’t think I can ever go back! For function, design, aesthetics, and usefulness I give this 4.0 stars overall. (The one star deduction was because of buyer’s discretion). The design is very sturdy and built for multi-functional use although there are those that may not be as willing to make the change due to personal choice. I say if you like it – buy it !!!
