Global warming is a huge problem that has presented itself in the past 10 years more than ever. Soon it will be an irriversable problem if we don't stop and take action now. It started in the early 1900's and late 1800's when all over the world, people started to industrialize allowing companies to produce more of their product at a much faster rate. In the years to come countries would cut down trees for paper, wood, and land. Deforestation has lead the world to have a shortage of trees to absorb the CO2 and make it into oxygen. This has resulted in the build up of green house gases.

The burning of the earths natural resources like fossil fuels are effecting the balance of the natural levels of Carbon Dioxide and other gases in the earth's natural warming process; the Green House effect. The last ice age stopped because the average temperature of the Earth as a whole raised 3 degrees. Witin the past 10 years, it has already risen one.

The Earth is a highly sensitive and complex group of systems that have to work together. Throwing off one will cause a chain reaction amungst the Earth's ecosystems. Rising temperatures setting off one system are what caused events like Hurrican Katrina, the biggest hurrican ever recorded in history.

We need to come together and try and stop or tremendously reduce the effects of Global Warming. By switching to a Hybrid car like Toyotas Prius and Honda Civic you not only save money at the gas pump, but you get 60 miles to the gallon. That will reduce the amount of carbon dyoxide produced by cars by 66%. The Prius was also rated one of the cleanest cars when it comes to pollution, it omits nearly no pollution while running. Changing to a hybrid car like those will not only benifit the enviroment, the money saved at the gas pump, but it would cripple gas prices. It takes $20 to drill a barrel of gas and then gets shipped tot he US at $70 a barrel. If we used less gas and they have that abundance of it, supply and demand will clearly send gas prices down under $2 again.

The country can use cleaner, more natural forms of energy like solar or wind power to provide electricity to homes and building rather than burning fossil fuels and starting nueclar plants.

Even small tasks like not using your AC will help. Air conditioners omit harmful things to the atmosphere that deplete the Ozone layer. If everyone replaced a regular light bulb with a compact florescent one, it would keep more than a trillion pounds of green house gases out of the earths air. We are using up too many of the Earths resources at too high of a rate. Phosphorus, the element in light bulbs and make TV's colored, are being burned and used at such a high rate that the earth only has a 30 year supply left in abundance.

The rise in carbon dyoxide is directly related to the heat raise in the world. The glaciers in Alaska and all over the world are melting twice as fast as they normally would every season. There is a glacier in North America the size of Texas that has melted away from the Artic within the past two decades. Just as there is a huge glacier in Italy that will be completly gone by 2010. All the water is flowing into the ocean causing the ocean to rise. By the year 2100, not only will Global Warming be a problem that is unstopable, but most of Florida, California, and all over the world will be under water. Islands all over the South Pacific are already seeing that problem occur.

As Americans we are morally obligated to do more than any other country in the world. We are responcible for about 25% of all the CO2 in the air. One out of every four barrels of oil drilled will get shipped to the US. We are the most powerful country in the world and can afford to help out hundreds of countries annually but we wont help the need for all life on earth to exist in the future.

America's government has passed certain laws and restraints on high pollution companies but it wont stop the people. By changing a few things in your life, you can save money and the amount of CO2 omitted yearly.
