The reason I have designed this page in this
manner, was in hopes that browsing information about Hellenistic Astrology
would be a bit easier. I've heard it said that the subject is "shrouded
in mystery," and I would like to provide a place that helps to remove
that shroud.
There is no reason why information about this
fascinating branch of astrology should be kept from the public. It is
a great way to bring the predictive side back to the western tradition
of astrology.
Yes, it is true that a lot of the material is
still undergoing translation. It needs to be perfected before it can be
released. However, that does not mean that the astrological community
should be kept from understanding the foundation of their current tradition.
The division between the Eastern and Western traditions began in Greece--these are your roots!
It is my hope that the techniques of the ancient hellenistic authors can be discussed here, and that this forum can serve as an educational supplement to those who are students of astrology, either self taught, or educated by an institution.

This group is for the free exchange of the methods of the ancient tradition of Hellenistic Astrology. It is my hope that the discussions stay close to Hellenistic , although I’m not banning the discussion of modern astrology here. I just think there are more active MySpace forums on which to discuss that subject, and would like this one to stay somewhat clean, and easy to search through.
Please don’t be mean for the sake of being mean. We all understand that under certain astrological conditions, tempers can flare, and that’s ok. But there’s no reason to act two years old; I have a feeling that’s not going to be a problem here though.
And that brings us to the next “rule.”
Please don’t post your chart, asking for a free analysis. If you are using your chart as an example of a technique, or in regards to a specific question (such as “is this how I find my profected place?”), that is fine. I’m not going to sit here and cyber stalk y’all. But if, by making this group public, I begin to see threads started for the sake of asking for natal analysis, I will ban the users, and return the group to private. Again, if your question is something like “is my Mercury in phasis,” that is fine. But please, don’t post your chart, and ask what you’re going to be when you grow up.
This is a tricky subject, because there is a fine line between asking for natal analysis, and posting your chart, asking for the resources to learn to interpret it yourself. Each instance is subjective, and there is no black-and-white outline of what’s “ok” and what’s not in this regard. Please, use your discretion.
I will create a thread in which people can post their charts to introduce themselves to the group. Sometimes, it may be a striking chart, about which somebody may wish to comment on. But please, don’t expect a response, and continue bumping your chart in that thread.
No spam, but there’s not much that I can do about that. MySpace has its security measures, and if they are breeched, all I can do is ban those users.
Please, actively ask questions. I have been asked to make this group public, so that the discussion will become more active. Hopefully, with the group being public, those with less knowledge of the workings of Hellenistic astrology will actively ask questions. This is the way we learn. You won’t learn by simply reading the posts; the posts won’t happen if you don’t start them. So, I just request that if you have questions, you feel free to ask them. We won’t bite, and I know for a fact that many of the members of this group enjoy helping people learn Hellenistic astrology.
I reserve the right to ban anybody for any behavior that I do not find to be appropriate. This does not mean that I am going to be ban-happy, so don’t be paranoid. I’m not big-brother watching you.
Lastly, and this is not a rule, I am a student of Hellenistic astrology, and therefore don’t have all the answers. In fact, I started this group in hopes that there could be a place where the discussion was more focused on Hellenistic methods, so I could learn more myself. I have nowhere near the level of astrological knowledge that the moderator of one of the more popular group has, so I don’t have all the answers, and may not be able to answer your questions via private message. So if I can’t answer a question you’ve asked me, via private message, please don’t think it’s because I don’t want to. I probably just don’t know the answer. So, posting questions on the forum would probably be the best way to get an answer, although I don’t mind private messages at all.
Anyway, I hope we all expand our astrological knowledge!
