Make health care available for ALL children!
(Message on behalf of America's Voice)

Just last week we saw an important victory for America's children. A bill that would make health care a reality for all kids passed out of the U.S. House of Representatives.

The bill is moving forward, but it is also under attack by anti-immigrant groups. Will you fax your Senators right now, and again tomorrow, to ask them to support the bill? It's called the State Children's Health Insurance Program, or SCHIP.

You'd think it would be easy to agree that every child should be able to see a doctor. Especially right now, with thousands of kids across the country lacking medical coverage. Unfortunately it's not.

Some groups are trying to block the passage of SCHIP because it would extend coverage to children and expectant mothers who are authorized immigrants. The Lou Dobbs lobby in Washington is arguing that these children and mothers -- who've immigrated legally, mind you -- should have to wait five years to get urgent medical treatment.

If this seems as unfair to you as it does to me, please fax your Senators now:

It's high time that we make sure all kids can see a doctor when they're sick -- and that our representatives in Washington know it, too.

Thanks so much for taking the time to fax your Senator and forward this message widely!

Sincerely,

America's Voice

P.S. Quick pronunciation guide: SCHIP is pronounced "S-Chip."
