This MySpace group is just a taste of what the real Forum can offer!
For artists, bands, fans, promoters, producers, etc. from Martinsburg and surrounding areas.
The purpose of this group is to share your music, ideas, resources, opportunities, etc. to collectively improve our small scene.
Despite what the name says, you don't have to be located directly in Martinsburg, you don't have to play music, and you don't have to be part of any scene. But the emphasis is on music from the greater Eastern Panhandle region (and surrounding areas). Contribute what you can, and benefit from the contributions of others.
This group was not created to promote any particular agenda, or discriminate against anyone. This is not a clique - anyone interested in our scene is welcome. While membership in this group may, by definition, signify a clique, it is open to anyone. There are no requirements or prejudices. If someone creates a problem, we will try to at least be fair and provide a neutral forum for proliferating the local music scene.
Rules
As most of us have learned, there are too many characters out there who would gladly take advantage of you when it's to their benefit. Therefore, we will delete any post that appears to be dubious, scamming, conniving, or spiteful. This includes racist, homophobic, sexist, or otherwise hateful speech. It also includes companies or promoters who rip off bands, bands who rip off companies or promoters, bands who rip off other bands, etc. We will delete any posts that promote those who are known to indulge in these practices.
It is to the detriment of the local music scene that we should have to achieve this by making "rules", but obviously there are some people who have no personal code of ethics or guidelines to follow. Honest people are not stepping stones, and the local music scene is not expendable. We're gonna defend the little guy. We may not change the world, but we can put a stop to that kind of drama here.
If that offends you, it is probably with good reason. You have freedom of speech; you may go to any other forum and voice your message. To everyone else, we encourage you to report any offensive or suspicious posts. |
