A group for those serious about Celtic Reconstructionism and people willing to learn what CR really is. This is for all cultural paths whether Irish, Scottish, Manx, Cornish, Gaulish, Welsh...... And all paths being walked, from fili to householder to warrior and more.
WHAT IS CELTIC RECONSTRUCTIONISM?
CR is a movement that was started to explore a more authentic way of worshiping Celtic Deities by respecting and studying the actual Celtic cultures. This was in answer to the Wiccan and "shamanism" (real shamanism being something quite different than what is found in New Age and NeoPagan definitions) habit of taking a few Celtic, often of different Celtic cultures, and sticking them in completely foreign practices. It entails both research of primary and good secondary sources and personal experience, with the personal experiences never being claimed as "authentic Celtic practices" unless they are backed up by the research.
Newbies and questions are welcome. Fluffiness is not. Some people confuse the two or confuse being "dark" with not being fluffy. Fluffiness is about willful ignorance, about refusing to face facts put in front of you, not about whether you are new, optimistic, love everyone or what ever. Being new means you don't know yet, being fluffy means you should know but refuse to. This is not a place to discuss "Celtic Shamanism" or "Celtic Wicca" as topics in themselves or to mistake them for CR. |
