For centuries, yes centuries, society has sought excuse after excuse as to why bad things happen. Teenage rebellion, disrespect, violence in the home, violence in the neighborhoods, school shootings, violence in the schools, crime in general. Usually, when bad things happen that involve youth, pop culture is blamed. While present day media formats weren't available to blame centuries ago, that which WAS available was blamed. Every form of expression has been plopped down on the sacrificial table to explain why youth do things. Whether through local policy or sweeping laws, those forms of expression were limited or banned altogether as the "solution" to the problems faced in society. Yet those problems still existed because the true problems were not addressed. Today, there are still those who wish to blame every form of media (expressive, entertainment, or even educational) for the bad things that happen in society. And demands of censorship or even banning of various forms of media to "solve" those problems are still occuring, whether through petition or even the formation of laws at various levels of government.
Parent For Education, Not Legislation is devoted to educating those less informed about rating systems, as well as focusing on the REAL problems and should anyone attempt to abuse the tragedies of others to push their own personal, religious, and/or political beliefs on others, we shall make certain that The Truth, The WHOLE Truth, And Nothing But The Truth is heard and recognized.
We shall seek out resources to inform and educate ourselves and others so that individuals and Parents alike can make appropriate choices for themselves and their own children. For we do NOT accept being dictated to as to what is or is not appropriate for us or our OWN children. We accept opinion and information in our seeking of knowledge to make the decisions for ourselves, but we DO NOT accept being dictated to by any individual, organization, or government entity as to what we should or should not find appropriate for ourselves or our children. We, the individuals and Parents, make those decisions for ourselves, whether we make the same decisions as another Parent or individual does or not. We recognize that there are many who would make decisions in regards to expressive, entertainment, or educational media or religious, cultural, or familial ideas that are completely contrary to our own. But we also recognize that those individuals have as much Rights to those things as we do to our own. We also recognize that they and we both have a Right to express OPINION, but not to demand or dictate change upon others simply because we don't agree with them.
We are intelligent, diverse individuals. We have our opinions and openly share them. But we do NOT dictate in any way, shape, or form to others nor do we wish to be dictated to.
Education beats Legislation (of any kind) every time.
