The Templars
About Us

The Templars are a fledgling democratic centre-right political party. Our political philosophy is a unique harmony of the following ideologies:

• Moderate Conservatism - We believe that the goal of change is less important than the insistence that change be effected with a respect for the rule of law and traditions of society. In this context we are opposed to Britain's excessive involvement in the EU and uncontrolled immigration. However we will continue to support European trade pacts in the interests of protectionism.

• Libertarianism - We believe that individuals should be free to do whatever they wish with their person or property, within reason, as long as they do not infringe on the same liberty of others. In this context we stand for social justice and take a hard-line on crime.

• Democratic Socialism - We believe in a socio-economic system in which property and the distribution of wealth are subject to indirect social control. In this context we strongly support decentralisation of government, greater democracy through more referenda, taxation more proportionate to income, and a highly developed welfare state.

• Green Policy - We believe that environmental policies should not be reactionary, but form the foundations of any well-rounded political philosophy. In this context we strongly support self-sufficiency and a more sustainable society, starting with exploiting Britain's deep sea wet renewables by developing our offshore energy industry to an unprecedented extent.

We were established on the 27th November 2005 by a community deeply concerned with the rise in totalitarianism in Britain. Widespread voter apathy gives a strong indication that the public views the major parties as being completely out of touch. Our aim is to force these parties to acknowledge the real issues in Britain or make way for Templar MPs.

One of our main beliefs is in giving power back to the people, and offering regular referendum votes on important issues. We believe that this would allow a Templar government to work more closely with our people ... more
